Mapinga One Primary School - Construction
Art in Tanzania is constructing a new primary school at Mapinga area at Bagamoyo some 40km from the Dar es Salaam city center North at the coast line.

Mapinga Primary school is an initiative between Art in Tanzania and a group of volunteers who have participated our programs before. More about the project itself have a look Mapinga One Project web site

The school will be constructed at a large 4 acres plot surrounded of vast land area that Art in Tanzania is developing for art centers and recreation areas.

The actual construction has started and the school is expected to be operational latest at the end of 2010. It is mainly serving the villages around the area. The first phase includes 4 class rooms and accommodation facilities for the students, teachers and volunteers/interns participating the operations.

How to participate. You can join the Mapinga Primary initiative by joining the group of volunteers supporting and participating the project or you can simply join and volunteer for the project. We need help in construction of the classrooms and other facilities, making sport and playgrounds, gardening and furniture making and further on we need assistance in teaching tasks. The weekly volunteering fee is usd 250 per week including airport transports, accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner, orientation and project guidance.

Free time. The project is located around the idyllic fishing villages and you can experience and socialize with the local people. You can take a boat and go snorkeling or fishing at the reefs, take a safari with our cars, visit at Zanzibar Islands and so on. You can also visit the other Art in Tanzania sites around the country to get more experience.
