Background
Art in Tanzania is
a Tanzanian NGO, also registered in Finland, arranging vocational training, school
teaching, orphan education and women projects
in towns and villages in Tanzania. We have Finnish
and expatriate members working together with numerous
small local Tanzanian NGO-s, schools, women groups
and other small entities. We arrange short and
long-term voluntary work in various areas as teaching
English, computing and internet use, health issues
(HIV, malaria), women issues, arts and handicrafts, music, sports and environmental and conservation projects.
We operate at Dar es Salaam, Moshi, Arusha, Masai land and Zanzibar. We have some 100 volunteers in the country all the time and some 60 people own permanent staff to run the projects and to assist the volunteers.
We finance our operations
by attendance fees and arranging safari and other
adventure programs for the visiting volunteers.
Our
Objectives
Our main objective is to enhance the livelihood
of the rural villages, orphans, women and tribal
people as the Masai tribe. We also perform environmental
projects as introducing fire bricks made of waste
materials to avoid forest cutting for charcoal.
We operate in grass root level so the work is easy to attend to all volunteers. We finance our operations
with the small profits from the attending volunteers
as well as from our other financial resources
as from meaningful safaris.
We provide adventure
packages for the attending volunteers as wild
life safaris, coral island sailing trips, climbing
Kilimanjaro, visit to Zanzibar and other adventures.
Many visiting volunteers want to encounter the
beautiful Tanzanian nature. These adventure operations
assist us financially to run the community
work projects.
